Dear Mayor:
We all know that children are our future and we want to leave the next generation a healthy, flourishing planet. But unless we join together now, global warming will threaten the natural balance of life.
Since you have signed the Mayors Climate Protection Agreement you know the problems of global warming. The problem will touch all of us: from the elderly and urban poor who are particularly vulnerable to heat waves, to hunters and anglers watching wildlife disappear, to homeowners experiencing mudslides, to families whose homes are threatened by floods and eroding coasts. Fortunately we still have time to avert more serious consequences.
Together, we can solve this problem, and the citizens of your city have an important role to play in their homes and workplaces. Americans can become part of the new energy economy by making energy-efficient choices. I urge you to order a copy of our most recent PSAs which can be localized for use in your community. Also let your constituents know they can go to www.fightglobalwarming.com to learn ways to reduce global warming pollution and slow the effects of global warming in your community.
What America can and must do to fight global warming starts with simple actions that all of us can take to truly make a difference. I appreciate your help in spreading the word on this urgent issue.
Yours truly,
